Antioxidant and Anti-aging

Antioxidants and it's affect on aging has been a hot topic as of late. There is no doubt you have heard about how antioxidants work on free radicals in our bodies. There is a lot of information being circulated about antioxidants, free radicals and aging, but exactly how much of this do you understand? Exactly what is antioxidant based anti-aging therapy?

There are two general theories about aging which are called the damage and the programmed theories. The damage theory is based on looking at the effects that natural damage which occurs over the span of our life time. When and that oxidant anti-aging therapy is used based on the damage theory, it focuses primarily on the extrinsic aging process, which is the process of aging affected by external factors.

On the other side of the coin, the programmed theory of aging is primarily dealing with how aging and genetics are related. It focuses on how long our sales can successfully maintain a state of optimum health. This style of antioxidant therapy for anti-aging deals primarily we have intrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is aging which occurs purely by the passage of time.

According to recent scientific clinical studies, chronic inflammation is a primary and significant factor which contributes in the aging process. Chronic inflammation is when the body develops inflammatory diseases as ages. This chronic inflammation can lead to heavy damage within the sales of the brain, arterial walls, heart and other bodily structures and can be attributed as one of the potential causes of such maladies as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, stroke, heart disease, senility, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis.

Antioxidant anti-aging happens to be one of the fastest growing areas of medicine due in fact to the possibility of the creation of a longevity drug.

Antioxidant anti-aging therapy works against the body's tendency to produce the free radicals. When your body processes its food, it also produces substances which are very unstable, otherwise known as free radicals. Free radicals cause damage to the sales of the body because they are highly unstable and contribute heavily in the aging process. Neutralizing these free radicals by using vitamins enzymes and minerals as a whole is known as antioxidant anti-aging. These nutrients can either come from food, or they can be obtained in supplement form. The supplements come in either pill or capsule form.

Some of the better known antioxidants include vitamin A, the B vitamins, vitamin C and E, Beta carotene, selenium and folic acid. Every one of these antioxidants can probably be found in the same food that you eat daily. Your best source for these antioxidants would be found in the fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. If you are not sure if you're getting enough antioxidants in your diet, then you should speak with your physician or a dietitian.
