Beginners Guide to Skin Care and Anti Aging

For most of us the first telltale sign of aging occurs on our skin. Our skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles begin to form. Usually the wrinkles begin around the eyes and are known as crow' s feet. Then we began to have the small lines around the mouth which are referred to as laugh lines. Once these wrinkles have appeared we began to consider what we can do to help minimize any and reduce the appearance all the more wrinkles.

Unfortunately once the wrinkles have appeared there really isn't that much to do for them other than makeup or plastic surgery. Sometime lines and wrinkles can be minimized by make it but the cosmetic surgery should be pursued only when absolutely necessary. So what can we do to help protect our precious skin, and retain a youthful look longer?

One of the biggest favors you could ever do your skin is to make it a habit to wear sunscreen. Our skin suffers more damage from the sun than anything else. Sunscreen can help shield your skin from damaging ultraviolet rays while exposed to the sun. A hat should also be worn to help shield the head and face area. You are exposed to the sun more than you think you are, and one of the ways to help combat the negative affects ultraviolet rays on your skin is to wear a moisturizer or a foundation which has an added sunscreen. This will also help reduce the risk of skin cancer.

As we age our skin tends to dry out easier. It has been concluded that dry skin will show wrinkles quicker than hydrated skin. By using a good moisturizer you can create a moisture barrier which will keep your skin from losing the hydration which is so essential to healthy skin. By making it a routine to use a good moisturizer your skin will retain the water which is so essential to keep its supple texture, and reduce the appearance of tiny wrinkles and fine lines. Moisturizers also have the added benefit of preparing your skin for makeup application. Using a moisturizer will help your make up have a smoother finish and will also help prevent cracking and flaking.

You may also want to protect your skiing and against free radicals. Free radicals can be released into our bodies due to air pollution and chemicals which may be found in our food. The free radicals tend to break down collagen and the elastin within the skin, which leads to the formation of wrinkles and produces sagging skin. By using facial products which include antioxidants you can help protect the elastin and collagen found in the skin. It is the collagen and elastin in the skin which keeps it firm and supple.

By providing your body with a proper diet you can also combat the signs of aging from within. By eating healthy foods and keeping yourself sufficiently hydrated you will increase your chances of having healthy skin. You should try to avoid or limit your use all of both caffeine and alcohol, as both of these actually cause your body to dehydrate. You will find that by drinking plenty of water you skin's texture will be smoother and you will not suffer from dry skin as often.

One last point, be sure to get the rest your body needs. The amount of rest your body may need will depend largely on what activities you engage in during the day. If you have had a strenuous day, do not be hesitant to add a little extra rest to your schedule. By keeping these tips in mind, you too can combat the signs of aging.
